Schedule

The CAL will run for ten weeks with pattern releases beginning September 15 and ending on November 15, 2023. Pattern parts will be released weekly on Fridays between 9 and 10am MDT/MST.

Technically speaking, however, the crochet along has already begun! Jump in now! The month before the first pattern is released is time we’ll use for planning our blankets – sizes, colors, etc. – and gathering yarn and supplies.

Yarn Packs

When it comes to color selection, nothing beats Stylecraft Yarns’ Special DK. It comes in 100 colors! That’s why I chose it for my blankets. See below for details on the colors I used for each of my three colorways and then check with your preferred Stylecraft Yarn stockist for yarn packs. (Each yarn pack makes the size 3 blanket per the pattern.)

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s a CAL?

A CAL is a Crochet ALong. A crochet along is an event where a pattern is released in stages and everyone participating makes them at the same time.

Where do I get the pattern?

The pattern is available on Ravelry and Etsy. Use coupon code FANCYPANTS to get it for the promotional price of $5 during the presale (that’s through September 15, 2023).

How much yarn do I need?

Well, that depends on the size of blanket you want to make. See, I always include the option to make different sizes of blankets – not everybody wants the same size blanket! So this pattern includes 6 size options and estimates for how much yarn you’ll need for each of them in DK or Aran weight.

How big is the blanket?

The pattern includes options for 6 different sizes in DK and Aran weight yarn. So a total of 12 sizes. The smallest is a travel size baby blanket and the largest will cover a king size bed.

I bought the pattern, why do I only have the first 16 pages?

Because this is a crochet along! You’ll get the rest of the pattern weekly when the event begins.

How will I get the weekly pattern releases?

You’ll receive an email (from me or Ravelry) each Friday between 9 and 10am MDT/MST. Click the link to download the next section of pattern.

When does the CAL start and end??

The first pattern part will go out on September 15, 2023. The last one will go out on November 17, 2023.

Are there video tutorials?

Yes! Every step of the blanket will be shown in video tutorials via private links within the pattern.

Are there charts?

Yes! Complete crochet charts are included in the pattern.

What languages are available?

English, both in US and UK terms, and Swedish are available. If you or anyone you know is interested in translating the pattern into another language, please use the contact form in the top menu.
