Step 2 It Crochet Along

Welcome to the main hub for all information about the Step 2 It Crochet Along.

Step 2 It is a diagonal chevron (aka – corner to corner, but not block stitch) crochet blanket pattern. Unlike other corner-to-corner chevron patterns (yeah, this has been done before) we won’t be fastening off our yarn. Nope! Not once. Not even for the border.

Make sure to check back here if you have questions, as I’ll be adding information as questions pop up.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s a CAL?

A CAL is a Crochet ALong. A crochet along is an event where a pattern is released in stages and everyone participating makes them at the same time.

Where do I get the pattern?

The pattern is available on Ravelry and Etsy. For the duration of the CAL the pattern is just $5 (that’s through September 12, 2024).

How much yarn do I need?

Well, that depends on the size of blanket you want to make. See, I always include the option to make different sizes of blankets – not everybody wants the same size blanket! So this pattern includes details and yarn estimates for just about any size you might want.

Okay, but how much yarn did you use for the sample blanket?

I used 1,665 yards (just under 3 cakes) of Stylecraft Batik Swirl in Meadow. That’s a DK weight yarn.

How big is the blanket?

My sample blanket is about 38 x 47 inches (a 5 x 6 on the size chart in the PDF). However, the pattern includes instructions and yarn estimates for many different sizes.

I bought the pattern but I don’t understand the size chart.

The circled numbers within the colored part of the size chart do not give you measurements – they are counting sections of pattern (each section is 8 rows). The estimated sizes can be found above and to the right of the chart.

I bought the pattern, why do I only have the first 5 pages?

Because this is a crochet along! You’ll get the rest of the pattern weekly when the event begins.

How will I get the weekly pattern releases?

You’ll receive an email (from me or Ravelry) each Thursday morning MDT/MST. Click the link in the email from Ravelry to download the next section of pattern. Or, see the PDF attached to the email from me.

When does the CAL start and end??

The first pattern part will go out on August 22, 2024. The last one will go out on September 12, 2024.

Are there video tutorials?

Yes! Every step of the blanket will be shown in video tutorials via private links within the pattern.

Are there charts?

Yes! Complete crochet charts are included in the pattern.

What languages are available?

English, both in US and UK terms are available plus charts which are pretty universal. If you or anyone you know is interested in translating the pattern into another language, please use the contact form in the top menu.
